Many people visit the water in valleys, beaches, and water parks ahead of the full-fledged summer vacation season. Although playing in the water is fun, you should be careful because various symptoms such as eye disease, skin trouble, and gynecological diseases can occur depending on the water quality. In particular, if the odor and color of vaginal secretions have changed along with unbearable itching after playing in the water, or the amount of vaginal secretions has increased, it is necessary to suspect 'nitrogenitis'.

▶"Candida vaginitis" is easy to find after playing in the water

vaginitis is one of the common diseases that can be called 'Women's Cold'. In particular, hot and humid weather in summer poses a risk of abnormal growth of bacteria inside the female vagina. Among them, wearing wet swimsuits for a long time due to playing in the water for a long time or exposure to unsanitary water conditions is likely to cause 'candida vaginitis'.

Candida vaginitis is a type of vaginitis experienced once in a lifetime by 75% of women, and is caused by yeast fungi. In a normal vaginal environment, the growth of Candida can be suppressed with appropriate acidity, but the hotter and wetter the environment, the faster the bacteria proliferate and cause vaginitis. Major symptoms may include ▲ fat white cheese-like vaginal secretions that are different from usual, and ▲ genital itching. In severe cases, ▲ stinging symptoms may be accompanied every time you pee.

Director Ryu Eui-nam, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Mizu Hospital in Seoul, said "Candida vaginitis is usually easy to treat, but it can become chronic if you miss the timing of treatment."And "In severe cases, the addition of bacterial vaginitis can lead to pelvic inflammation and cervical inflammation, so special attention is needed."

▶ Take off your wet swimsuit and wash it cleanly

If left unattended, vaginitis can easily become chronic and in severe cases can cause complications such as pelvic inflammation, so it is important to treat it as soon as possible. The earlier the treatment is, the easier it can be, such as taking antibiotics, but if left unattended, the longer the treatment period and the more complicated the process.

Treatment of vaginitis depends on the causative agent. Candida vaginitis can be treated with antifungal drugs. In addition, antibiotics can be used depending on the causative bacteria such as bacterial and trichomonas. In addition, it supports steroid ointment application and vaginal disinfection treatment depending on the symptoms complained.

In most cases, vaginitis treatment is usually easy, but intensive treatment is needed early due to the high risk of recurrence. Chronic vaginitis without such proper treatment can lead to cervical inflammation, pelvic inflammation, and complications during pregnancy, so special attention is needed.

Ryu Eui-nam, head of Seoul Mizu Hospital, a gynecologist, emphasized early treatment, saying, `As much as 'time' of treatment is important, it is important to visit an obstetrics and gynecology clinic immediately if you experience unusual vaginal secretions and itching after playing in the water.'

Not only the water quality condition of the water play place in summer, but also the hygiene habits of individuals before and after playing in the water are important. After playing in the water, it is recommended to remove your wet swimsuit as soon as possible to wash your genitals cleanly, remove moisture, and wear underwear while completely dry.
