The 14th Kim Ophthalmology Hospital Cup Korea's blind golf competition results

"The 14th SBS Golf and Kim Ophthalmology Hospital Boat Korean Blind Golf Competition" was held at Radena GC in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do on the 27th and 28th."

Hosted by Kim Ophthalmology Hospital and SBS Golf, and organized by the Korea Blind Golf Association, about 160 people attended the competition, including 39 blind golfers at home and abroad (19 full blind and 20 weak blind) and supporters, Kim Yong-ran, president of Kim Ophthalmology Hospital, Kim Sung-joo, vice chairman of the Korea Blind Golf Association, Park Shin-young, senior vice chairman of the KPGA Ji Tae-hwa, vice chairman of KLPGA Kim Mi-hoe and members of the match committee.

The competition was held as an international competition with the World Blind Golf Association (IBGA) inviting not only domestic players but also foreign blind players such as Japan and Australia, and the Pro-Am competition was held on the 27th and the main competition on the 28th. The Pro-Am competition was held in a four-sum manner in which blind players and non-disabled players played as a team. Through communication and cooperation, the four-sum game, which requires strategic play, can enhance understanding of visually impaired golf and create a consensus between the blind and the non-disabled, adding to the meaning of the Pro-Am tournament.



The main competition, which was held as an 18-hole stroke play, was divided into an all-blind and weak sectors with blind golfers and non-disabled supporters in groups. Kim Jin-won and Yoo Jeong-il won the championship and the runner-up in the all-blind category, respectively, and Kim Ki-sung and Jo In-chan won the championship and the runner-up in the amblyopia category, respectively.

Kim Jin-won, who won the championship in the blind category with 112 strokes, said "In the past, I was lukewarm about blind people playing golf, but as Kim Ophthalmology Hospital hosted a blind golf competition and promoted it a lot, the perspective on blind golf changed a lot and the golf practice range became easier to use."I hope that the blind golf competition of the Kim Ophthalmology Hospital will continue in the future, making it easier for blind people to access golf and more junior players will come out.", he expressed his feelings. Kim Ki-sung, the winner of the amblyopia category with 92 strokes, said, `I am so happy to win the championship, thanking everyone and supporters who hosted the blind golf tournament following last year.'



Kim Yong-ran, president of Kim Ophthalmology Hospital, said "It has already been the 14th time since Kim Ophthalmology Hospital hosted the blind golf competition, and the competition was able to continue with the efforts of not only Kim Ophthalmology Hospital but also everyone here."I sincerely thank the supporters who support the blind golf tournament, the supporters who are the eyes of the blind athletes, and the domestic and foreign athletes who always do their best at the tournament."

Since 2009, Kim Ophthalmology Hospital has hosted the 「Kim Ophthalmology Hospital Bae Korean Blind Golf Competition」 every year, contributing to the revitalization of sports for the disabled by instilling confidence in blind golfers and providing opportunities to compete fairly with their skills.
