A woman who tried to poison her husband using eye drops has been arrested and is shocking.

Daisy Zanter (39, female), who lives in Pleasantville, Iowa, was arrested last week on charges of poisoning her husband by feeding him eye drops at least twice in July last year, according to the New York Post and other U.S. media.

She was found to have secretly put eye drops containing ingredients such as tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride into her husband's drink.

The husband was hospitalized for shortness of breath after drinking poison, treated, and survived.

She is said to have admitted the allegations. However, the reason for the crime has not yet been revealed.

According to the U.S. Poison Control Center, consuming tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride can cause symptoms such as drowsiness, low blood pressure, and dangerous bradycardia.

Comatos and seizures can also be triggered.

One expert explained "Ingestion can quickly cross the blood barrier, have toxic effects on the blood, brain, central nervous system, and can quickly affect the whole body."

She was charged with administering harmful substances and domestic violence (injuries or mental illness) and imprisoned.
