According to U.S. media, including Fox 29 broadcasts, an SUV standing in the parking lot of Kelly Drive, Philadelphia, fell into the School Kill River at around 5 a.m. on the 28th (local time).
The man and woman in the car escaped unhurt before police and rescue teams arrived at the scene.
Police said the couple was having sex in the back seat when the woman accidentally touched the gear and the vehicle rolled into the river.
The vehicle was towed around 9 a.m. that day.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by the University of South Dakota research team found that a large number of college students (61% male and 58.5% female) have had sex in a vehicle.
