The Korea Sports Promotion Corporation (Chairman Cho Hyun-jae) is taking the lead in ESG management activities through various activities.

▶'2024 Rotary Bicycle New Use (Upcycling) Design Contest'

First of all, the '2024 New Cycling (Upcycling) Design Contest' will be held for the entire nation until the 23rd. This competition is a participatory event that proposes ideas for designing promotional items that can be used practically in everyday life by utilizing new waste parts of bicycle wheels that cannot be used for racing.

Anyone can participate in this contest in the capacity of an individual or organization, and a total of 13 people (or organizations) will be awarded certificates and prize money (Onnuri gift certificates). It will also provide one-on-one consulting opportunities with experts for some award-winning works and provide opportunities to produce promotional items through collaboration with community SMEs or new upcycling experts.

The application for the contest will run until the 23rd, and detailed application methods and screening procedures can be found through the Sports Corporation website or the announcement on the bicycle website.

Solar power generation facilities will be installed on the outer wall of Gwangmyeong Speedome, where the race will be held. Gwangmyeong Speedom, which is shaped like a huge bicycle helmet, has limitations in installing general rooftop solar facilities. In response, the Gyeongnyeon Provincial Government Headquarters will begin installing a 'Building Integrated Solar Panel' suitable for Gwangmyeong Speedom next month after exploring best practices, visiting product fairs, conducting solar investment consulting at energy-specialized institutions, and designing services. It also plans to install a colored panel to harmonize with the appearance of the Gwangmyeong Speedome.

When construction is completed at the end of the year and solar power generation begins in earnest, two months (28,000kWh) of lighting power used by Gwangmyeong Speedom will be obtained through solar power and 17 tons of greenhouse gas reduction per year is expected.

Meanwhile, the 740 light fixtures in the Misari Police Station light tower will also be gradually replaced with LED lights for three years by 2026.

Meanwhile, on July 31, the Korea Red Cross Incheon Blood Center held a 'Group Blood Donation Event of Love' with the Korea Red Cross.

The group blood donation event was held this time with the voluntary participation of executives and employees of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Headquarters to contribute a little to the shrinking blood supply due to the summer vacation season. The blood donation was carried out from 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Gwangmyeong Speedome with on-site support from Incheon Blood Center of the Korean Red Cross, and executives and employees who participated were also given the opportunity to check their health conditions, including blood tests, blood pressure tests, antibody tests, and cholesterol tests.

An official at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Headquarters who prepared the blood donation event said, "We also donated blood in groups in April, and this is the second event of the year." We will continue to hold meaningful events like this to become a model public institution for ESG practice," he said.
