Gyeongsang National University Hospital Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center 'Multi-disciplinary Seminar'Summary'

Gyeongsang National University Hospital (Hospital Director Ahn Sung-ki) Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center (Director Kang Jeong-hoon) announced on the afternoon of the 23rd that it held the '2024 Multidisciplinary Seminar' in the grand education room on the second floor of the joint center.

The 2024 multidisciplinary seminar is designed to share the multidisciplinary treatment experience accumulated by the Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center with in-house and out-of-house cancer treatment medical staff and to provide higher quality multidisciplinary integrated treatment in the future.

A total of 60 people attended the event, including Ahn Sung-ki, director of the Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center, Kang Jeong-hoon, and cancer screening experts in Gyeongnam, confirming the deep interest of the community in the multidisciplinary integrated care system.

This seminar was followed by ▲Depidemiology and treatment behavior of cancer patients in South Gyeongsang Province (Professor Park Ki-soo of public health office) ▲Depidemic treatment status of cancer centers in South Gyeongsang Province (Professor Park Eun-sil of Pediatrics Department) ▲Necessity of clinical trials and multidisciplinary treatment (Professor Lee Kyung-won of Hematologic Oncology Department) ▲Depidemic treatment satisfaction survey (Nurse Lee Ok-ja) ▲Depidemic treatment management using digital platform (Nurse Kim Ji-soo).

Professor Lee Kyung-won of hematologic oncology, Professor Ha In-bong of radiation oncology, Professor Kwak Seung-jin of colorectal surgery, and Professor Choi Se-min of urology conducted discussions under the first part of the panel discussion under the theme of `The pros and cons of multidisciplinary treatment: Treatment part.'

In the second part of the panel discussion, Professor Won Won Won-ho of the Department of Radiology, Professor Yang Jung-wook of the Department of Pathology, and a cancer experienced person discussed the theme of 「The pros and cons of multidisciplinary treatment: Intervention part」 through the society of Professor Jang In-seok of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery.

Director Kang Jeong-hoon "Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center has been steadily implementing multidisciplinary treatment since 2017 in which experts from various fields cooperate to provide optimized treatment to individual patients, and we are proud that the know-how has been accumulated as it has been activated enough to perform 962 multidisciplinary treatments last year alone."I hope today's seminar will be a meaningful time to actively discuss the difficulties, values, and improvements of multidisciplinary treatment."," he said.

Meanwhile, Gyeongsang National University Hospital Gyeongnam Regional Cancer Center opened in 2007 for the first time out of 13 regional cancer centers nationwide, and is faithfully playing a role from cancer-related treatment such as cancer prevention and treatment, cancer registration, hospice palliative care, and integrated support for survivors to providing community services.
