Aug 07, 2024

Gyeongsang National University Hospital (Hospital Director Ahn Sung-ki) announced on the 7th that it has recently obtained the highest grade, Grade 1, in the 「4th Intensive Care Unit Appropriateness Assessment」 published by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.

Since it is important to have an appropriate system in the intensive care unit to continuously observe severe patients and provide professional treatment, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service has been conducting an intensive care unit adequacy assessment since 2014 to improve the quality of the overall intensive care unit.

The 4th ICU adequacy assessment was conducted on patients aged 18 and older (health insurance and medical benefits) who were admitted to the ICU for three months from January to March 2023, and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service announced the results after conducting an evaluation of a total of 303 medical institutions (45 high-level general hospitals and 258 general hospitals).

The evaluation was conducted with a total of five indicators, including ▲ the number of intensive care unit beds per person in the exclusive specialist ▲ the number of intensive care unit beds per nurse ▲ whether specialized equipment and facilities are provided ▲ whether infection control activities in intensive care units ▲ death rate in intensive care units, and Gyeongsang National University Hospital received a comprehensive score of 92.0 points (68.5 points overall average) to win the first grade for the third consecutive time.

Professor Joo Sun-mi (Respiratory and Allergy Internal Medicine) in the ICU said, "We will continue to do our best to improve survival rates through professional and optimal treatment for severely ill patients."."

Meanwhile, Gyeongsang National University Hospital was initially notified of the second grade (87.0 points) by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service on July 25 in the 4th intensive care unit adequacy evaluation, but was finally notified of the change to the first grade (92.0 points) on the 6th through an objection.
