Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) agreed to cooperate with each other on technology development in the digital medical field.

Hallym University's Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital and the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute signed a business agreement at 10 a.m. on August 8 at the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, attended by Lee Dong-jin, director of Hallym University's Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital, Shin Young-joo, vice president of research, Park Chul-kyu, vice president of administration, Lim Sung-woo, head of the value innovation team, Bang Seung-chan, head of the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Kim Seung-hwan, head of the Digital Convergence Research Institute, Park Sang-soo.

This cooperation is designed to realize advanced medical technology in the future by analyzing and developing medical big data and clinical technologies accumulated by Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital by combining medical ICT technology from the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute.

According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in ▲ medical device and medical artificial intelligence research ▲ medical data-centered research ▲ digital medical diagnostic treatment research. Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital shares and provides accumulated medical data and clinical research content, while the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute shares and provides digital medical devices and artificial intelligence technology. The two institutions will conduct joint research that applies to medical care and co-host academic seminars, education, and forums to accelerate AI clinical research and development of core technologies.

This business agreement is the outcome of the 「Hallim University Medical Center-Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute Joint Research Workshop」 held in November last year.

At the workshop, ▲Intelligent Diagnosis: Early Diagnosis Technology for Acute and Chronic Nephrology ▲ Medical AI Prediction: Bio-Text Mining Technology for Identification of Individual Names and Relationships ▲ Precision Therapy: Electric Field Cancer Treatment Device Technology, AI, and Digital Therapy were presented.

Through the workshop, both organizations agreed on the need for clinical research on AI and collaborative and joint research for the development of digital core technologies. As a result, Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital under the Hallym University Medical Center, which became the core of the workshop presentation and research, will hold a business agreement with the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and conduct joint research to synergize technology development.

Lee Dong-jin, the head of the hospital, said, "This agreement is meaningful to be able to develop new medical digital technologies with the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute by sharing medical big data accumulated by Hallym University Gangnam Sacred Heart Hospital and advanced medical technologies related to artificial intelligence. We will do our best to contribute to the improvement of public health by converging digital technologies with medical care to enhance diagnosis and treatment effects."

"We will contribute to the lives of the people through digital medical technology innovation as well as synergy between the two institutions through this business cooperation that combines ETRI's digital technologies and infrastructure with the abundant data and clinical technologies owned by hospitals in the era of bio-transformation led by digital convergence," said Bang Seung-chan, ETRI's director.
