A tourist swimming in front of a cemetery in Venice, Italy, has been criticized.

According to the New York Post, two tourists were seen swimming in the canals in front of the San Michel Island cemetery between Venice and Murano last week.

This is a cemetery where famous Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and other celebrities sleep.

Swimming is prohibited in Venice in canals or unauthorized waters in residential areas because of boats and unsanitary conditions.

Violations of this can result in fines and ban access to the city.

Local residents who encountered the video are `shameful, rude and ignorant.'", "It's a cemetery, but I don't respect it at all", "In other countries, they would have been arrested and fined a lot and taken home..." he criticized.

Meanwhile, conflicts between local residents and tourists are growing in Venice.

After the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, travel needs have erupted, and many parts of Europe are suffering from 'over-tourism (over-tourism)'.

Some residents of tourist attractions complained, saying, `It is difficult to live daily life because foreigners are so crowded.'

Venice introduced an admission fee of $8 (about 10,000 won) for day travelers during the peak season for the first time this year, and limited the number of group tours to 25.
