According to NHK and other Japanese media, a scissor was found missing at a store in the restricted area of Shinchitose Airport in Hokkaido at around 10 a.m. on the 17th, causing a commotion.
All security checks were suspended for two hours, and passengers who had already completed and were waiting to leave had to be searched again.
As a result, 36 flights to and from Shinchitose Airport were canceled and 201 were delayed.
After two hours of searching, the airport resumed operations, but passengers had already suffered great inconvenience.
The scissors in question were reportedly found by a store employee on the 18th, the next day.
The store had to take the scissors out of the locked storage room every time they were used, but will continue to investigate how the scissors were lost.
In this regard, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport requested Hokkaido Airport to investigate the cause and prevent a recurrence.
The airport recognizes that the store was caused by poor storage and management systems"I'll check the system again." he said.
