A Malaysian man who lent money to his girlfriend was legally punished for falsely reporting that he was robbed for fear of being caught by his wife. According to foreign media such as China Press and Oriental Daily, A (65), who works as an industrial complex security guard, visited the Chukai Police Station in Terengganu Province at around 8 a.m. on the 10th (local time) and reported the robbery.

He said he was robbed of his money by two robbers on his way home after finding the money at a nearby gas station ATM.

When he approached to help after finding the man who had fallen, he said the man rose and pointed a weapon at his chest, while the other man threatened him from behind.

The robbers specifically told the damage that A took all the money he had and ran away on a motorcycle.

However, according to the police investigation, the robbery damage did not occur.

He confessed that he had spent all his salary and made a false report because he was afraid to tell his wife.

It turned out that he lent the money to a girlfriend he had known for three years.

Police said if convicted of deliberate false reports, they could face up to six months in prison or a fine of 2,000 ringgit (about 620,000 won).
