The man from Hebei Province in northern China has been nicknamed 'Traveler Taishan' from the Chinese version of TikTok 'Douyin' to 'Uncle Born in the 2000s', according to Dilphi News and the South China Morning Post.
Because of his tanned face, many people misunderstood him as a middle-aged man, but his ID card says he was born in December 2000.
His appearance changed rapidly as he hiked through northern and western China, including the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is high in altitude and has strong ultraviolet rays.
He is traveling with a stray dog he met on the road while dragging a wooden cart containing all the items necessary for daily life.
Before going on a solo trip, he said he was too depressed to live a normal life after breaking up with his girlfriend.
He began his journey in late February this year after being told that hiking the Qinghai-Tibet plateau could purify his mind.
When other backpackers first met, he said, he called himself a 'brother' or 'uncle', showing his ID and saying he was born in the 2000s, but there were still people who didn't believe it," he said.
"Over time, some people accepted that they didn't believe I was a man in my 20s.""Early hair loss came due to prolonged sun exposure in the highlands, and sunburn damaged hair follicles. "
He also said he hadn't shaved for a long time after realizing that a mustache could protect his skin.
Netizens suggested improving the appearance of skin care and haircuts, but he firmly refused.
He said "What's the point of doing that? I think it's okay as it is now."
Meanwhile, earlier this year, there was news that a woman in her 20s changed into a 50-something appearance due to a long-distance walking tour.
Sasha (28), who has been on a walking tour from Chongqing, southwest China, to the Tibet Autonomous Region since January this year, became a hot topic after receiving a response from netizens that she looked 58 years old in three months.
