Krafton Acquires Japan Tango Gameworks, Developer of Global Popular Rhythmic Action Game 'HiFi Rush'



Krafton selected Tango Gameworks as its first investment in the Japanese game market and announced the recruitment of development personnel on the 12th.

In the process, in cooperation with Xbox and Zenimax, Tango Game Works' popular IP 'Hi-Fi RUSH' was also secured. Tango Gameworks is a Japanese developer founded in 2010 and has developed Rhythm Action 'Hi-Fi Rush', Survival Horror 'Dable Within', and Action Adventure 'Ghost Wire: Tokyo'.

In particular, the rhythm action game 'Hi-Fi Rush' was very popular in the global game market, and it also won the Best Audio Design Award at the Global Distribution Platform Steam, the Best Audio Design Award at the Game Awards 2023, the Best Audio Award at the 24th Game Developers Conference, and the Best Animation Award at the 20th BAFTA.



Tango Gameworks was acquired by Microsoft in 2021, but it announced its closure in May. In response, Krafton said it has joined hands with Tango Game Works as the first investment in the Japanese game market, with the meaning of respect for Tango Game Works' craftsmanship and creativity to create new enjoyment.

With the acquisition, Krafton will embark on new projects, including the development of the next 'HiFi Rush'. Krafton emphasized that the investment continues the tradition of 'Hi-Fi Rush' IP, while also being an option for fans around the world waiting for Tango Gamesworks' next film.
