On the 6th, production company S&CO unveiled the Korean premiere cast of the musical 'Aladdin'. Kim Joon-soo (Aladdin), Jung Sung-hwa (Gini), and Lee Sung-kyung (Jasmine) were listed as major roles.

Musical 'Aladdin', which is considered an anticipated work in the second half of this year, premiered in Seattle in 2011 and then went on to Broadway in 2014.

First, Kim Joon-soo, Seo Kyung-soo, and Park Kang-hyun were triple cast in the role of Aladdin. Kim Joon-soo is currently the best ticketed actor in the Korean musical world, and Seo Kyung-soo and Park Kang-hyun have also long established themselves as the main characters of the grand theater musical.

The role of Genie, the fairy of the lamp, is played by veteran actors Jung Sung-hwa, Jung Won-young, and Kang Hong-seok.

Lee Sung-kyung, Min Kyung-ah and Choi Ji-hye were cast as Jasmine. Among them, Lee Sung-kyung, who showed off her amazing singing skills in various entertainment programs, is taking on a new challenge of debuting a musical with this work.

A total of 37 actors were cast at the domestic premiere. The production company said it was selected in consideration of the actors' skills and harmony with the characters.

In particular, Casey Niccolo, who is in charge of directing and choreography, decided on the final candidates through 10 auditions to select actors who can perform the complex stage art elements of 'Aladdin'.

"I'm very proud to present a world-class Korean cast," Niccolo said. "I'm surprised to meet such an in-depth and rich pool of talent. "

Meanwhile, the musical "Aladdin" is based on a Disney animation. It is also performed in 11 productions on four continents around the world and has been watched by about 20 million viewers. Songs that were popular in animation such as "A Whole New World" are also used in musicals.

In Korea, it will be performed until June 2025, starting with the opening at the Lotte Theater in Seoul on November 22, and will be available in Busan from July.
