This was an increase of 179% (693 people), indicating that the number of patients was increasing sharply in August.
In regional analysis, the number of COVID-19 children in the Chungcheong area increased significantly.
In the Chungcheong area, the total number of patients in the fourth week of July was 54, but the total number of patients in the first week of August was 301, a whopping 457% increase (247 increase).

Choi Yong-jae, president of the Korea Children's Hospital Association (Director of the Medical Government Strong Children's Hospital), said, "The results of this survey suggest that preemptive response and defense, such as reducing the number of COVID-19 children, are needed by using the COVID-19 pandemic as a counter-teacher in the past."A significant number of COVID-19 children may spread more easily to most asymptomatic or mild patients."I was concerned.
In particular, newborns with premature heart disease, diabetes, and obesity must visit a hospital for further examination or management if they are confirmed to be at high risk"Although rare, complications such as MIS-C (COVID-19 Multiple Inflammatory Syndrome) can develop into critical illness with fatal consequences, so careful attention is needed."
In addition, Chairman Choi Yong-jae emphasized that "As elementary schools and others are expected to open in August, the number of children with COVID-19 and adult patients is expected to increase. Therefore, the quarantine authorities must establish or announce more specific precautions or guidelines for action in advance so that doctors or patients who treat them will not be confused by frequent changes in treatment guidelines like last time."
