Professor Kim Jin-sung of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital elected the first Korean to be a director of the International Strategic Growth Committee of the North American Society of Spine Surgeons

Kim Jin-sung, a professor of neurosurgery at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University of Korea, was elected as the director of the International Strategic Growth Committee of the North American Spine Society (NASS) for the first time in Korea. The term of office is three years from November 2024.
Professor Kim Jin-sung was elected as a director of the International Strategic Growth Committee (ISGC) in recognition of his contributions to serving important positions in major NSS committees, including the Minimal Invasive Technology Committee, the Governance Committee, the Faculty Development Committee, and the Endoscopic Curriculum Taskforce since 2018.
NASS is the most prestigious academic organization in the field of spine, with about 8,000 members around the world, mainly in the United States, including basic scientists in the field of spinal surgery and research, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and other clinical researchers.
ISGC is a high-level advisory organization that operates the global expansion and long-term development strategy of NASS and consists of a total of around 15 people, including the chairman of NASS, the former chairman, and the chairman of the International Organizing Committee. Professor Kim will decide on NASS' international growth strategy, organic exchanges with vertebral-related societies around the world, and important policies related to it.
Professor Kim Jin-sung said, "It is an honor to be the first Korean to be elected as a board member of the ISGC of the North American Society of Vertebrate Surgeons.""We have a great sense of responsibility, but we will do our best to continue to contribute to the governance of the world's most influential global spinal surgery society.""
Meanwhile, Professor Kim is the most well-known expert in minimally invasive endoscopic spinal surgery at the Global Society of Spinal Surgeons, and invitations from various national conferences to learn about his surgery and research methods and visits from overseas trainees are continuing.
