Professor Na Ji-hoon at Gangnam Severance Hospital'My child's headache is not a fake disease' is published

Professor Na Ji-hoon (Department of Pediatrics and Adolescents) of Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital published a book 'My Child's Headache Is Not a Fake Disease (Bookhouse)'.

Headaches in children and adolescents are often treated as fakes. This is because there are no noticeable symptoms and it is difficult to objectively evaluate pain. Many children complain of headaches, but the whole process, from identifying symptoms to diagnosing and treating them, is not easy for both parents and doctors, as well as the children involved. The family suffers directly or indirectly from seeing a child suffering from a headache. Parents also complain of anxiety and depression because of the helplessness of not being able to find a sharp way for their children.

Professor Na Ji-hoon, the author, is a specialist in dealing with neurological diseases in children and adolescents. He works at the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescents at Gangnam Severance Hospital and conducts research on the diagnosis and treatment of headaches, epilepsy, and intractable neurological diseases in children and adolescents, as well as mitochondrial decline.

Professor Na emphasizes that guardians should not overlook the symptoms of a child's headache. Headaches during childhood and adolescence require special attention as they hinder the child's stable development, hinder study, and adversely affect future life.

The main contents of the book consisted of ▶ Headache with different causes for everyone ▶ Primary Headache with unclear cause ▶ Secondary Headache with clear cause ▶ Future of Pediatric Adolescents Headache Treatment ▶ frequently asked questions in the clinic. Above all, specialized contents such as various causes of headaches, treatment and prevention methods, and precautions were easily solved by the public. In addition, the authors presented answers to actual cases and questions of patients and caregivers they encountered in the clinic.

Professor Na Ji-hoon "It was a pity that young patients did not understand the pain caused by headaches from their surroundings. There are many times when I want to tell them one by one in the clinic and explain them calmly, but there were many times when I couldn't due to limited treatment hours. It is hoped that the book will provide easy and accurate medical information to patients and carers who are suffering from headaches, and will be of little help to their suffering."
