It is the first treatment case in the Chungcheong region, and there are not many treatment cases nationwide because it is a new medical technology with high difficulty.
The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) treatment performed by Professor Park is the latest endovascular treatment method of brain aneurysm approved by the U.S. FDA in 2017.
It blocks blood flow by filling a metal net tightly woven with nitinol wires into a ball-swelled brain aneurysm to eliminate the risk of rupture.
Recently, as it has been in the spotlight around the world, it is becoming a treatment for brain aneurysm that replaces conventional ligation and coil embolization.
Professor Park Jong-hyun said, `Ligation requires opening the head, and coil embolization has several disadvantages, including the risk of recurrence and the fact that the neck is wide and is not suitable for treating large aneurysms and delamination aneurysms"On the other hand, Web (WEB) treatment is a very beneficial and effective treatment for patients who do not open their heads, have low recurrence rates, and can be applied to various brain aneurysm diseases."
Cerebral aneurysm is a cerebrovascular disease in which the cerebral artery swells like a balloon. It is called the "time bomb in the head" that causes the sudden rupture and loss of life after no signs of prognosis.
The patient who underwent the procedure was Mr. Noh (59, female), who lives in Cheonan, who was diagnosed with brain aneurysm at another hospital and transferred to Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital on July 16 and was treated on August 1st and discharged healthy on August 3rd.
Professor Park expressed his gratitude to Professor Park Seok-kyu of Neurosurgery at Soonchunhyang University Seoul Hospital for his participation in this procedure"In the future, we will activate Web (WEB) treatment and further develop it through continuous research."."
