Seoul National University Hospital extends two-year consignment operation of UAE Sheikh Khalifa Specialist Hospital

Seoul National University Hospital (Hospital President Kim Young-tae) announced on the 21st that it has extended its consignment operation contract with Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for two more years.

The consignment operation of Seoul National University Hospital is the first case of consignment operation of a large overseas tertiary medical institution in Korea, and has played an important role in strengthening the 'special strategic partnership' between Korea and the UAE. SKSH (Director Lee Jung-yeol) is a 246-bed hospital located in Ras al-Kaima (RAK), UAE, with a total of 664 medical staff, including 99 dispatched from Seoul National University Hospital. The number of outpatient treatments reached 84,859 in 2023, and more than 7,000 patients visit SKSH every month.

In particular, SKSH provides stable and professional medical services for high-frequency and high-level treatment diseases in the UAE through three special centers, including cancer centers, cranial nerve centers, and cardiovascular centers, thereby building high satisfaction and confidence in Korean medical care. As a result, SKSH has established itself as an internationally recognized medical institution, obtaining JCI certification three times from 2016 to 2022. In particular, he won the UAE Medical Innovation Award in 2020, solidifying his position as an innovative medical service provider in the Middle East.

Seoul National University Hospital introduced the UniT based Performance Innovation Aid (UTOPIA) to improve the operational efficiency of SKSH and improve communication between departments, strengthening the hospital's management of key performance indicators (KPIs) and safety indicators, and as a result, related indicators have improved significantly. In particular, the highest level of satisfaction was recorded in the patient satisfaction assessment tool 'Press Ganey', and SKSH achieved the highest patient satisfaction among the Royal Hospital of Shake Khalifa.

SKSH President Lee Jung-yeol said he plans to strengthen patient management, education, and research capabilities through cooperation with Seoul National University Hospital in the future. It plans to expand the service range of cardiovascular centers, brain nerve centers, and tumor centers, and promote treatment and research initiatives using AI to increase patient treatment results and hospital operation efficiency. In addition, localization will be promoted through internships and major programs of UAE national medical students, and education programs of Seoul National University Hospital will be introduced to strengthen the professionalism of local medical staff.
