A fire broke out at Singapore's Changi Airport on the morning of the 6th (local time), forcing passengers to evacuate.

According to local media such as online and The Straits Times, a fire suddenly broke out at the X-ray equipment for baggage inspection at the gate D46 of Changi Airport Terminal 1.

A video posted by a witness on TikTok shows black smoke rising with flames around the equipment.

Many passengers were also seen covering their noses and evacuating.

Passengers were waiting to go to Denpasar Airport in Bali, Indonesia.

Passengers were reportedly evacuated to a safe place under the guidance of the airport, and no one was injured.

The fire did not spread further as two airport staff around it used fire extinguishers to quickly extinguish it.

"It got really hard to breathe, so people had to get out of there," one passenger said. "The smoke spread to at least 75m in both directions of the terminal."

Airport officials say the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical defect in the X-ray machine," he said.

The aircraft was scheduled to take off at 7:10 a.m., but was delayed by about two hours and left around 9 a.m.
