A Korean man was arrested locally on charges of smuggling into Thailand and possession of drugs.

According to local media such as FM91 and Tiger News, Thai Pattaya police arrested a Korean man (45) on charges of illegally entering the country and possessing drugs on the 14th.

After receiving a report that there was a Korean who had been smuggled into the country from neighboring countries, police caught Kim at an accommodation in Bangramung, Chonburi Province.

A police search found various kinds of drugs. Kim reportedly admitted to smuggling and drug possession charges.

According to the police, Kim had been banned from entering Thailand in 2015 for violating visa-related laws, including illegal stay.

Police said they are also considering transferring them to South Korea while charging them with two charges.

Meanwhile, Thai police recently said that foreigners often smuggle drugs under the guise of tourists, adding that they will continue a more thorough investigation and crackdown.
