It turned out that the cause of death of a teenage boy who had his wisdom tooth removed at a Japanese dentist was due to inappropriate anesthesia.

According to Japanese media such as NHK and Mainichi Shimbun, Tomika and Utah, 17, had two wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia at a dentist in Osaka in July last year. The boy is known to have had general anesthesia due to developmental disabilities.

However, he later became comatose due to hypoxia and died about a month later.

Police investigating the case claimed that medical staff did not take appropriate action despite incorrectly inserting a tube that supplies oxygen to the lungs through the nose.

At that time, an alarm was raised to indicate breathing problems, but the dentist in charge did not confirm that it was not inserted into the institution, and the emergency transfer request was delayed for more than 40 minutes while the director suspected other causes.

The 34-year-old dentist in police investigation should have dealt with the tube location suspecting an abnormality"I said, and the 55-year-old director said "I don't think there was any problem in determining that there was another cause, but it was my mistake that the emergency request was delayed."

After completing the investigation, the police recently sent them to the prosecution on charges of professional negligence.
