A mountain hairtail nicknamed 'Last Day Fish' was found off the coast of the United States

According to the New York Post and other foreign media, people kayaking and snorkeling off the coast of La Jolla Cove, California, found dead mountain hairtails on the 10th. The mountain hairtail was about 3.7 meters long.

Tourists alerted UC San Diego Scripps Oceanographic Laboratory to the discovery after taking an authentication photo next to a mountain hairtail carcass.

According to the institute, mountain hairtail can grow to over 9 m long.

Generally, mountain hairtail live in the deep sea and are said to rise to the surface when they die, get sick, or lose their sense of direction.

Since 1901, only 20 mountain hairtails have been found on California's entire coast, the institute said. "We plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.'

Meanwhile, there is a myth that the discovery of mountain hairtail is a precursor to an earthquake.

In fact, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake occurred near LA, California on the 12th, two days after the discovery of the mountain hairtail.

In April, 30 hours before a strong earthquake in Taiwan, a mountain hairtail was caught in nearby Philippine waters.

However, there is no confirmed correlation between earthquakes and mountain hairtail.

Biologists emphasize that earthquakes and the appearance of deep-sea fish have little correlation and are a kind of 'misin'.
