On the 6th (local time), in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, central India, a 40-year-old man A asked B, a woman of the same age living in the neighborhood, to marry him, but was rejected, according to Indian media such as Dynik Bhaskar News. It was because she was a married woman with three children, although she was separated.
After a while, A, who was rejected, brought a plastic bottle containing flammable substances and suddenly poured it on the woman and lit it.
The woman who caught fire was in pain and grabbed A's body, and A was also engulfed in flames.
Residents around quickly extinguished the fire and took the two to the hospital. Fortunately, the two, who suffered burns all over their bodies, were not life-threatening.
Women reportedly suffered 40% burns on their faces and bodies, while men reportedly suffered 25% burns.
According to a police investigation, driver A has been continuously courting B, who was running a flower shop.
B, who married 15 years ago, has three children and has lived with her parents for the past four years since separating from her husband.
In response, women have refused to date, saying they cannot get married because they have a family.
Meanwhile, an incident occurred when a man proposed unilaterally on that day.
The police plan to arrest a man who is hospitalized on charges of attempted murder as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.
