John Tinniswood, the world's oldest man, celebrated his 112th birthday on Aug. 26 at a nursing home in England.

According to foreign media such as the BBC and The Mirror, John, who was born in Liverpool, England in 1912 when the Titanic sank, was listed as the world's oldest male record in April. He is the same age as the late Son Ki-jung, the 1936 Berlin Marathon gold medalist, and said he was `lucky.'

In an interview with Guinness World Records (GWR), he said "I don't feel that age, I'm not that different from anyone else, I'm not excited about it." That's probably why I've come this far."

He also said "I just took it in my stride like everything else, and I have no idea why I have lived so long"It revealed a laid-back lifestyle. He said "There is no particular secret about longevity. I was just lucky. However, when I was young, I was quite active and walked a lot. I don't know if it has anything to do with longevity."

He, who lives in Southport, Merseyside, England, said "I don't have a special diet" and "I enjoy the food given to me like everyone else, but I eat fish and chips every Friday"

John, who has been through two World Wars, is the oldest surviving male veteran of World War II.

After serving in the military, he worked as an accountant for oil giants Shell and BP before retiring in 1972.

He met his wife, Blodwen, at a ball in Liverpool and was married for 44 years until her death in 1986. His daughter is 81 years old this year.

Currently, the oldest living man and woman in the world is Tomiko Itooka of Japan, who is 116.
