The 9th Nexon Youth Programming Challenge confirmed 81 people who will advance to the finals in October

Nexon announced on the 30th that it has confirmed 81 finalists after completing the online preliminary round of the 9th 'Nexon Youth Programming Challenge (NYPC 2024)'.

The online preliminary round, which involved a total of 4,000 people, was held twice in August in the first and second rounds. The first round, which lasted for five days from August 8th to 12th, presented various questions, including ideas from Nexon executives and employees and simulation problems using Nexon's popular game IP, such as 'Maple Story', 'Kartrider: Drift', and 'Dave the Diver'.

About 2,000 people, or half of the total number of applicants, passed the first round and headed to the second round. The second round was held on August 17 and 25, and 81 of the top scorers (21 in the 12-14 year old category and 60 in the 15-19 year old category) were confirmed as finalists.

Nexon is scheduled to hold an offline competition at the Nexon headquarters in Pangyo on Oct. 26 for the finalists. In addition, the top 500 scorers in the second round who failed to advance to the finals will be given a special prize to encourage future growth.

The entire questions presented in the online qualifying round are open to anyone on the free coding learning platform 'BIKO', and participants can check the participation records and grade changes from 2022 to this year on the NYPC official website 'My Page'.

Meanwhile, Nexon held a 'NYPC Practice Group Event' through 'BIKO' in July where both teachers and students could participate. Information teachers from more than 200 schools nationwide have opened online classes on 'BIKO' to systematically prepare for the competition with students. Nexon also announced that it held various on-site events, including providing snack cars to the final three schools, Gyeonggi Science High School, Daejeon Donghwa Middle School, and Korea Digital Media High School, which showed the highest participation.

The NYPC, co-hosted by Nexon and Nexon Foundation and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Creative Content Agency, and the Game Culture Foundation, first began in 2016 and marks its ninth anniversary this year with the aim of enhancing youth interest in coding and capacity.
