Bundang Seoul National University Hospital (Director Song Jeong-han) successfully completed the 'Health Information Highway (Personal Medical Record Access System) Medical Data Provider Spread System Project' and held an opening ceremony in the hospital's conference room on the 19th.

Song Jeong-han, director of Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Jeong Se-young, director of the Information Society Division, and Yeom Min-seop, director of the Korea Health Information Service, attended the opening ceremony, and a promotional booth was operated in the lobby on the first floor to inform patients and visitors on how to use the health information highway through the app 'My Health Record'.

The health information highway is a system that stores personal health information, such as the medical institution, the National Health Insurance Corporation, and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, in a standardized format and can easily inquire on mobile.

Using this system, patients can inquire and utilize their medical data anytime, anywhere without having to go to a previous hospital. Individual health information such as test results can be checked through a mobile app, and it can be easily delivered to medical staff at new hospitals using the web viewer. Medical staff who have received the patient's health information can use it to make efficient and accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Bundang Seoul National University Hospital participated in the project, which was promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health and Medical Information Service, and from September last year to August this year, medical institutions built a cloud-based storage place to store medical data. The technology for storing and transmitting medical data is 'Next Generation Medical Information Interoperability Technology Standard (FHIR)'.

This is a hub for standardizing and storing medical data that was previously incompatible between medical institutions, and medical institutions participating in the consortium can safely exchange medical data through the hub. As a result, medical staff can easily understand medical data from other new hospitals, and medical data from new medical institutions participating in the project are easily compatible.

The project completed this time is expected to be useful to both patients and medical staff. All patients can check the ▶ medical history ▶ health examination record ▶ vaccination record ▶ prescribed medicine information through the 'My Health Record' app. In addition, patients who have received medical treatment at medical institutions participating in this project can also view ▶ diagnosis and drug prescription details ▶ diagnosis, imaging, and pathological examination results ▶ surgery and treatment details without a separate medical record.

If a patient who has been treated at a medical institution participating in the project sees the treatment at a new hospital, health information can be delivered to the medical staff through various methods such as app screen, PDF, and web viewer, and if the new hospital is a hospital participating in the project, medical records can also be checked on the EMR web viewer screen.

Director Song Jeong-han of Seoul National University Bundang Hospital said "This project provides convenience and continuity of treatment by making it easier for patients to inquire and utilize personal medical records.""We will continue to strive for the convenience of patients and more accurate treatment of medical staff in the future" he said.

Lee Ho-young, head of the Digital Healthcare Research Project at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, said "When establishing a medical data hub, we focused on allowing hospitals to store and inquire patients' health information in a standardized format."If many hospitals continue to participate in the future, patients will be able to check and utilize their health records more conveniently."

Meanwhile, nine institutions and 30 hospitals, including ▶ Gyemyeong University Dongsan Hospital ▶ Gyemyeong University Daegu Dongsan Hospital ▶ Gil Medical Foundation (Gachon University Gil Hospital) ▶ Dankook University Hospital ▶ Ilsan Hospital ▶ Dongkuk University Hospital ▶ Lee Dae Mok-dong Hospital ▶ Idae Seoul Hospital ▶ Jeju University Hospital, and 1,263 institutions, including 47 upper general hospitals, will participate in the project by next year.
