According to local media such as Jagran, a 9-year-old girl was reported missing in Balasore, Odisha, India, on the 27th of last month (local time).
Three days later, on the 30th, the body of a decomposed girl was found in an abandoned house.
Police launched an investigation and arrested a 46-year-old man as a suspect on the 1st.
He was a friend of the girl's father,
After sleeping at his friend's house on the 26th night, he was found to have committed the crime by taking the girl out the next day, saying he would buy her chocolate while she was away.
He also allegedly brutally damaged the girl's face with chunks of concrete to keep others from noticing.
Police have detained the suspect and are continuing further investigations.
