Hallym University Medical Center Holds Virtual Race for Fire Victims 'WirrenWiro'

Sep 23, 2024

Hallym University Medical Center will hold the 「4th WeRunWero」, a donation virtual race that the whole nation can participate in, from October 21 to November 17, 2024. Applications for participation are from September 23 to October 13.

Hallym University Medical Center's Werenwu, which has been continuing for the fourth time, is a healthy donation event where participants can take care of their health while also practicing sharing. The Wirren comfort women will be held for those affected by the fire, including burn patients and firefighters who suffered burns during fire extinguishing.

This year, there were a series of major fire accidents in Korea, including the fire at a lithium battery factory in Hwaseong and the fire of an Incheon electric vehicle. Accordingly, Hallym University Medical Center will donate the entire fund raised to the Hallym Burn Foundation, a social welfare corporation, and use it to support treatment and nursing expenses for burn patients and to support firefighters' trauma recovery.

The spread of COVID-19 is in full swing, and Werenwie, which began with the aim of holding a donation marathon non-face-to-face, will be held as a 'Virtual Race' where everyone can run together regardless of location and time using SNS. During the event, it can be authenticated by posting GPS-based smartphone application records on participants' personal SNS after running at the desired time. You can freely choose one of the 3km, 5km, and 10km sections of the race course.

Anyone in the country can participate, and the participation fee is 30,000 won per person, and a donation receipt will be issued. All participants will be provided with souvenirs such as exercise functional T-shirts, sun patches for UV protection, bottled water and free coupons, and commemorative medals.

For this event, Gowoonsesang Cosmetics Doctor G sponsored 1,000 Nice Buddy Cool Down Sunpatch, and Baeksansu sponsored 1,000 free coupons for bottled water and Baeksansu apps and presented them as souvenirs.

In addition, 300 participants who write and certify cheering phrases on the competition number table will be selected and cosmetics 'And Doctor Coming Gel Cream' will be presented as souvenirs. Released by Doctor Solution, 'n Doctor' is donated to the Hallym University Medical Center Weren Wiro every time, and this year, it sponsored 300 gel creams.

In addition, if you continue to participate in the 4th Werenewi event and receive two or more NFT medals, if you certify them, Hallym University Medical Center will add 10,000 won per participant to deliver the donation.

Werenwiro was first held in 2021 to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of Hallym University Medical Center, and it is donating more than 30 million won every year. A total of 4,152 million won was raised with 1,384 people participating in the "1st Werenwu: It's Okay to Go Slowly" and delivered to the Hallim Burn Foundation, Sangnok Nursery Center, and welfare centers under Hallim University Medical Center to help low-income children and adolescents become self-reliant and livelihood.

In 2022, a total of KRW 30.13 million was raised and donated to the Hallym Burn Foundation, and 30 firefighters who suffered physical and mental damage during the fire control process were selected and used for trauma care. Last year, a total of KRW 3.015 million was raised for the 3rd Werenewal, and all of it was donated to the Hallim Burn Foundation to support firefighters' medical expenses and psychological and emotional recovery and to support the treatment of burn patients.

In particular, the Hallym Burn Foundation developed 'Firefighter Trauma 119 Academy', a trauma treatment program for firefighters, through Weren Wiro last year. Firefighter Trauma 119 Academy provides customized mental health recovery support to firefighters who have experienced trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms during the fire suppression process, and Lee Byung-chul, a professor of psychiatry at Hallym University Kang Sungsim Hospital, participated. In the program, trauma care, mental and physical stabilization methods, PTSD coping, and safety measures can be received.

Last time, the participants expressed their feelings such as "It's rewarding to be able to donate and take care of health for firefighters who work 24 hours a day for our safety and patients who are suffering from burns" and "It's hard but I'm proud to think that running can help those in need"

Details of this event can be found on the Werenwe website and on Hallym University Medical Center's Facebook page and Instagram.
