Han Sung-woo, new director of Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital at Hallym University "Full support for treatment and research of seriously ill patients"

On August 30, Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital held the inauguration ceremony of the 9th new hospital director Han Sung-woo (circulatory medicine) in the auditorium on the 4th floor of the main building. More than 100 key positions and faculty members attended the event to celebrate the new hospital president's first start.
In his inaugural address, Han Sung-woo, the new hospital's president, expressed his ambition such as ▲ full support for the treatment and research of critically ill patients ▲ development of advanced technologies and leading through artificial intelligence (AI) and digital innovation ▲ faithfully carry out the mission of recovering the health of patients and protecting their lives.
The head of the hospital said, `We will make efforts to ensure that Hanlim University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital is in a position to lead the future medical technology beyond making good use of cutting-edge technology for patient treatment.' We will also do our best to make the hospital where faculty and staff are involved a happy workplace and work with a sense of reward."
Han Sung-woo, the head of the hospital, is an authority in the field of cardiovascular disease in Korea, and the main areas of treatment are heart failure, angina, myocardial infarction, and aortic disease. She graduated from Hallym University School of Medicine in 1993 and received a doctorate in medicine from Chung-Ang University Graduate School. He served as the head of the cardiovascular center and vice president of Hallym University's Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, and led the success of the first heart transplant in southern Gyeonggi Province in 2017, the first artificial heart surgery (LVAD) in Gyeonggi Province in 2018, and the success of percutaneous aortic valve replacement (tabic procedure) in November last year.
Since October 2019, it has contributed to revitalizing local medical care by participating in medical treatment dispatched by specialists at Seosan Medical Center in Chungcheongnam-do and Anseong Hospital in Gyeonggi-do Medical Center. In addition, he is actively engaged in academic activities such as the director of the Korean Society of Cardiology, the director of the Korean Society of Echocardiography, and the vice president of the High Blood Pressure Complications Research Association.
