Miss Universe, Singapore's first transgender finalist, got married seven years ago

A transgender woman made it to the Singapore final of Miss Universe.

According to foreign media such as the Straits Times, 15 beauties made it to the finals at the Miss Universe Singapore (MUS) pageant held last week.

In particular, transgender women were included on the list for the first time in the 70-year history of the Singapore Games.

It is Katricia Zaireiya (33), who works in the fashion industry.

Previously, she finished second at the Miss International Queen's competition in Pattaya, Thailand, last year.

After undergoing sex reassignment surgery in 2017, she is a married woman who married her Singaporean husband seven years ago.

She said, `I first got to know my husband when I was 20 years old when I was serving in the military.'"He was with me throughout my transformation from boy to woman," he said.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Singapore has significantly eased its eligibility to participate since last year.

This allowed married and childbirth women to participate, and all women over the age of 18 can apply by removing the age limit.

A contest official said "The most women have applied in recent years. There was even a 65-year-old female applicant"It also said.
