Professor Lee Hwa-young of Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital won the Korea Suicide Prevention Association Life Love Award

Professor Lee Hwa-young (Department of Mental Health Medicine) of Cheonan Hospital, affiliated with Soonchunhyang University, recently won the Life Love Award at the Korean Suicide Prevention Society Comprehensive Academic Conference held at the Kim Koo Memorial Hall.
Every year, the society awards the Life Love Award in four categories: academic, reporting, network, and service to individuals or organizations that have contributed to suicide prevention. Professor Lee won in the academic category.
Professor Lee was highly praised for his great contribution to the establishment of a voluntary prevention infrastructure by developing several versions of life-saving education programs through active research activities.
Professor Lee has also been conducting suicide prevention and life-respecting activities for the public along with GEM (CEO Shin Ae-ra), a celebrity lifeguard group.
Professor Lee Hwa-young said, `We will do our best to make our society safe from suicide through more efforts at the forefront of suicide prevention"I'm determined.
Meanwhile, September 10 every year is World Suicide Prevention Day set by the World Health Organization, and Korea is disgraced as the number one suicide rate among OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) member countries. In particular, suicide is a major cause of death for those in their teens and 30s.
