Professor Park Joong-shin of Seoul National University Hospital Elects Chairman of the Korean Society of Mother and Child Care

Professor Park Joong-shin of obstetrics and gynecology at Seoul National University Hospital was elected as the 16th president at the 30th regular general meeting of the Korean Society of Mother and Paternal Medicine. The term of office is two years from September 1, 2024.

The Korean Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine (KSMFM) is an academic organization established in 1994 with the aim of developing maternal and fetal medicine research and promoting maternal and child health in Korea. Every year, academic conferences and lectures are held to share the latest knowledge in the field of high-risk maternal and fetal treatment, and research on improving the system for the safety of pregnant women is also actively underway.

Professor Park Joong-shin said, `We will create a society that is faithful to the role of a partner in maternal and fetal health based on our long medical and research experiences.' `We will focus on solving issues such as severe low birth rates and high-risk mothers.'

Meanwhile, Professor Park was elected as vice chairman of the Asia-Oceania Obstetrics and Gynecology Association (AOFOG) in May and is working to share and cooperate with 28 obstetrics and gynecology associations in Asia and Oceania, and to improve women's health. In addition, Professor Park, who is serving as the head of the medical department at Seoul National University Hospital, served as the chairman of the training environment evaluation committee of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the chairman of the Korean Medical Education Association, the president of the Korean Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasound Association, and the vice president of the school at Seoul Medical University.
