Nanuri Hospital held an academic conference to celebrate the 21st anniversary of its foundation at the Omnibus Park of the Catholic University of Korea in Seoul on the 8th to explore innovative directions for creating sustainable hospitals under the theme of 「Exploration of the future of medicine」 and to think about the direction of the development of spinal and joint treatment.

A total of 250 people attended the conference, including Chairman Jang Il-tae of Nanuri Hospital, Kim Jin-wook of the Nanuri Medical Foundation, Lim Jae-hyun of Gangnam Nanuri Hospital, Director Lee Joon-ho of Incheon Nanuri Hospital, Kim Hyung-jin of Juan Nanuri Hospital, and Nam Shin-woo of Suwon Nanuri Hospital, as well as outside figures such as Professor Cho Jung-ki of Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University and Professor Kim Geung-nyeon of Yonsei University Severance Hospital.

Chairman Jang Il-tae said in a commemorative speech, `Although the medical community has recently experienced various conflicts and confusion, we have the power to cultivate fertile land again and create a future with good fruits"I am confident that the process of exploring the future based on a deep understanding of the past, present, and various worlds will be a valuable time to solve difficulties and reveal the future of medicine." he said.



In addition to spine, joints, and administrative sessions, the academic conference commemorating the 21st anniversary of Nanuri Hospital added significance by presenting special lectures and 'Nanuri Academic Award'. In particular, art critic Lee Ju-heon gave an insightful lecture on the convergence between medical and art that leads to new innovations under the theme of 「The World of Medical and Art Innovation」. In addition, among the papers published during the year, the 『Nanuri Academic Award』 was presented to researchers who have contributed to promoting Korean medical technology and enhancing their academic contribution and status.

The first session was held with Kim Jin-wook, head of the Nanuri Medical Foundation, and Kim Joon-bae, head of Pyeongchon Seoul Now Hospital, as the chairmen, presenting a new paradigm for hospital operation. Chung Deuk-nam, vice president of the Catholic University's Institute of Lifelong Education, and Park Byung-tae, a professor at the Catholic University's Graduate School of Health and Medical Management, shared growth strategies using medical doctors and medical services, while Han Ye-sung, CEO of Xpet Korea, introduced a competitive hospital marketing method using Google SEO (search engine optimization).



The second session was a lecture on joint therapy techniques that have recently attracted attention. Kim Hyung-jin, director of Juan Nanuri Hospital, and Lee Bong-geun, professor of Hanyang University Hospital, were in charge, while Lee Hyo-jin, professor of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital of Catholic University, Jeong Gyu-seong, professor of Hanyang University Guri Hospital, and Moon Joon-ki, professor of Chung-Ang University Hospital, shared clinical experiences on shoulder rotator cuff rupture, knee cartilage regeneration, and osteoporosis treatment.

In the last session, we had time to explore the development of spinal surgery in depth. Suwon Nanuri Hospital Director Pi Yong-hoon and Catholic University Incheon St. Mary's Hospital Professor Kim Jong-tae took the chairmanship, while Yonsei University Severance Hospital Professor Kim Geung-nyeon, Korea University Anam Hospital Professor Lee Soo-beom and Catholic University Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital Professor Cho Jung-ki participated as speakers to hold lectures on lumbar fusion through lateral approaches, optimal treatment for spinal diseases caused by osteoporosis, and development trends of vertebrae endoscopy.



Meanwhile, Shin Myung-hoon, a professor at the Catholic University of Korea's Incheon St. Mary's Hospital, received the 2024 Nanuri Academic Award for his thesis titled 「Lordosis Distribution Index for Prediction Mechanical Applications After Long-Level Fusion Surgery; Comparison of Global Alignment and Proportion Score and Roussouly Classification」.
