On August 30, the Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jung Ki-hwan) held an appointment ceremony for the "2024 Experiential Youth Interns" in the auditorium of the main building and welcomed new family members.

The recruitment began in July to create high-quality jobs and cultivate employment skills for young people. A total of 35 interns (15 in general, 8 in the horse industry, 12 in the disabled) were finally accepted, expanding the size of recruitment from last year.

In this year's recruitment, preferential treatment has been greatly expanded in document screening so that young people can establish a virtuous cycle system for job success. Additional points were given to those who have experience in volunteer work at local children's centers and participants in the National Employment Support System Work Experience Program organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Furthermore, a field of social contribution talent was newly established to recruit human resources specialized in social contribution.

The appointed interns will be assigned to the field department from the 30th to carry out activities to enhance various work capabilities and business understanding. The field of general and social contribution talent participates in office and technical assistance and on-site guidance activities for consolidation campaigns. The horse industry is devoted to supporting various horse-related events such as horse riding competitions and rehabilitation healing horseback riding. In the field of the disabled, based on the consulting of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled in 2022, they develop suitable jobs and perform online monitoring work.

With the official introduction of online ticket sales, the role of interns is expected to become more important as the importance of cracking down on illegal horse racing sites is growing.

Meanwhile, the Korea Racing Authority has established a new system this year to actively support young interns' employment. In addition to employment support leave, vacation use was made possible on an hourly basis, and mentoring was conducted with seniors from the deployed department to induce organizational adaptation and have time for harmony by managing work experience and solving difficulties. In addition, a meeting with new employees in 2024 will be held to share and pass on know-how on job success.

After completing the internship, excellent interns who recorded the top 20% in the evaluation will be given additional points in the interview screening when hiring new employees.

Chu Wan-ho, head of the management division of the Korea Racing Authority, said "This year again, interns armed with outstanding capabilities and potential will take the first step in our Korean Racing Authority.""In the future, interns will acquire experience and know-how in the field department for six months and actively support internship programs such as mentoring and educational program support.""
