A swimming club in China has announced that it will accept only women under the age of 45 as members, sparking controversy.

According to Chinese outlet Modern Express and Hong Kong outlet South China Morning Post, the 2049 International Swimming and Diving Training Center in Jiangsu Province recently announced eligibility for new members on its local information app.

The condition is that a woman under the age of 45 with a bachelor's degree must pay 576 yuan (about 110,000 won) as a membership fee.
