A Chinese kindergarten director was found to have been fired after receiving about 1,000 won worth of chocolate from an original student.

Accordingly, the director filed an unfair dismissal lawsuit, and the court admitted it and ruled for compensation.

According to foreign media such as Xingtao Daily and Sina Finance, Wang, the director of Shanxi Kindergarten in Chongqing, China, received a box of chocolates from a student last year ahead of Teacher's Day (September 10 every year in China). In terms of price, it was 6.16 yuan (about 1,200 won).

Director Wang shared the chocolate with other children in kindergarten.

However, she was later fired for receiving a gift from her student.

The kindergarten claimed that Director Wang violated the Ministry of Education's regulations that prohibit students or parents from asking for or receiving gifts or money in any form.

In response, Director Wang filed a lawsuit calling it "unfair dismissal" and the court acknowledged it and ruled that kindergartens should pay compensation."

The court said "It is commendable that the kindergarten strictly enforced the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education, but the chocolate presented by the original student is from love and respect and therefore does not need to be strictly applied to the regulations."," he said.

The kindergarten that objected to this filed an appeal, but the second trial court also made the same judgment as the lower court.

Meanwhile, in China, it is common to deliver gifts or greeting cards to teachers every September 10th 'Teacher's Day'.

Sometimes competitive parents give luxury gifts to teachers for their children.

In response, China's Ministry of Education has established a rule that teachers should not receive gifts or money.
