At least four people were killed and nine others were injured in a shooting at a high school in Georgia on the morning of the 4th (local time).

Two students and two teachers are known to have died.

According to U.S. media such as CNN and the New York Post, the shooting occurred at Appalach High School in Winder, about 70 kilometers from Atlanta, Georgia.

The suspect, Colt Gray, 14, of the school, was arrested at the scene.

He used an AR-15 rifle and put the gun down shortly after he confronted a school security officer.

The motive of the crime is not yet known, but it is said that he was investigated in connection with the threat of shooting last year.

According to a joint statement from the FBI and police, the suspect was investigated last year for multiple reports about the threat of shooting.

The investigating agency had `no reason to make an arrest at the time, and no further law enforcement action had to be taken at the local, state or federal level" he said.
