One-third of European teenagers have sex without condoms, according to an analysis.

As a result, underage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections will sweep across Europe, health officials warned.

According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), the use of condoms by teenagers is surprisingly decreasing, according to foreign media such as Daily Star.

The WHO conducted a survey of 242,000 15-year-olds in 42 countries over the previous eight years.

As a result, about 30% did not use condoms or contraceptives during sexual intercourse.

In addition, the proportion of teenage boys who used condoms decreased from 70% in 2014 to 61% in 2022 and girls from 63% to 57% in the same period, respectively.

Dr. Hans Kluge, the WHO's regional director for Europe, said "The survey results are disappointing but not surprising."

He pointed out that this is due to the wrong sex education policy.

He explained that "comprehensive sex education suitable for age is still neglected in many countries, and sex education has been reduced due to a false misconception that it promotes sex."

He then called for the improvement of sex education policies, saying, `Providing the right knowledge at the right time to adolescents helps them make responsible actions and choices.'
