A man in Vietnam is shocking by stealing the remains of a relative's adult to pay off his gambling debt.

According to local media such as Dantree and Joa Bin TV, Lutan Nam, 37, who lives in Quang Xuong, Tanhoa Province, Vietnam, was recently arrested on charges of stealing the remains of his fifth cousin Dangsuk and extorting his family's money.

On the 9th, he drilled a 20x20cm hole in Dangsuk's tomb, which was buried four years ago with a shovel, took the skull and some of the deceased's remains and hid them in a garbage dump near the cemetery.

The next day, he sent a text message to his cousin and the child of the deceased with an unknown number and demanded 5 billion dong (about 270 million won).

He also threatened that he would never find the remains if he did not pay or reported them to the police.

The family, who confirmed that the actual tomb was drilled and some of the remains disappeared, informed the police.

Police recently arrested Rutannam and safely found the remains that he had hidden and delivered them to his family.

In an investigation, he confessed to committing the crime to settle his gambling debts.
