Will the bridge be rewritten in European history 6,000 years ago
Sep 04, 2024
Perhaps European human history can be rewritten.
This is because an ancient stone bridge was found in the water off the coast of Mallorca, Spain.
According to foreign media such as Daily Star, it has been believed that mankind first arrived in Mallorca from the Iberian Peninsula or southern France around 2500 B.C.
However, the newly discovered underwater bridge appears to overturn this theory, with some in the academic world arguing that humans may have visited more than 2,000 years ago.
The bridge is about 25 feet (about 8 meters) long and is submerged inside the Genevosa Cave on the Spanish island of Mallorca, according to a team from the University of South Florida.
Initial findings convinced the team that the bridge was built about 6,000 years ago.
The research team found that "the existence of this bridge and other artifacts suggests that early settlers recognized the cave's water resources and strategically established infrastructure to navigate them.""Additional interdisciplinary research cooperation is important in revealing historical truths and developing an understanding of human history. "
The research team will continue its research on global sea level rise and warming by examining sediments that formed millions of years ago.
