According to Chinese media such as Rushing News and Sohu Dotcom, on the afternoon of the 25th of last month, a woman on China Western Airlines flight PN6270 from Urumqi in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region to Chongqing Zhangbei Airport found 'Bloody Wipes' in her pocket in front of her seat. Afterwards, it was a wet towel provided on board.
She claimed that the bloodstained towel reached her hand as soon as she put the paper cup in her pocket after drinking water given by the flight attendant.
In the process, mobile phones, glasses, and masks were also contaminated with the wet towel.
She informed the flight attendant about this and received disinfectant wipes and wiped them, but she still felt uncomfortable. It was because of concerns about possible virus infections.
Eventually, after arriving at the airport, she had to go to the hospital for a blood test.
She pointed to the complacency of airline employees, along with poor cleaning conditions and negligence of hygiene.
An airline employee at the airport said he didn't know about 'Bloody Water Towel' because the flight attendant didn't inform him, but later changed his words that he threw it in the trash can.
In the wake of the controversy, the airline said "We apologize for the inconvenience and will focus more on cabin hygiene along with improved service quality." In the meantime, he said he would compensate only for some of the inspection costs that A received.
Meanwhile, 'Bloody Water Towel' was found to have nosebleeds or wiped by passengers on the previous flight. The passenger said he was not suffering from nosebleeds due to the disease and said he was willing to get tested to resolve the suspicions.
