The runway was closed after an unexploded bomb exploded on a taxiway at Miyazaki Airport in Japan.

According to Japanese media, including the Asahi Shimbun and Mainichi Shimbun, an explosion was heard on the taxiway connecting the runway of Miyazaki Airport at around 8 a.m. on the 2nd.

This resulted in puddles with a diameter of 7m and a depth of 1m. The runway will be closed until 9:30 p.m. on the 2nd.

The cause of the explosion was believed to be an unexploded bomb.

Shards of bombs manufactured in the United States were reportedly found at the scene.
