A man swimming off the coast of Japan was attacked by a dolphin.

According to the Telegraph and other foreign media, Takuma Goto (23), who was swimming with friends on the coast of Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture this summer, insisted that `the dolphin kept asking in the water.'

The dolphin disappeared only after surfers around it restrained it.

As a result, Goto sewed five fingers and was also injured on both wrists and forearms.

This summer alone, 16 dolphins have attacked humans in Fukui Prefecture.

Among the victims were a man in his 60s who had to sew more than 50 needles, and an elementary school student who had to sew 20 to 30 needles of his hand fingers.

According to Japanese media, dolphins began appearing on the coast of Fukui Prefecture in 2022.

Dolphins attacked humans in one case in 2022 and five in 2023, but this has increased sharply this year.

In response, experts speculate that it may be because dolphins are lonely or have sexual dissatisfaction.

Biologist Dr. Simon Allen said that "the culprit of the attack was most likely a male bottlenose dolphin" The bottlenose dolphin is a very social animal. Therefore, it can be expressed in many physical ways."

"Like humans and other social animals, dolphins can hurt interacting people because of hormonal fluctuations, sexual dissatisfaction, or a desire to dominate" he argued.

Dr. Marie Kobayashi, director of the Marine Biology Laboratory at Tokyo Agricultural University, said, `It is possible that a lonely dolphin asked because it wanted to try to communicate.' `We understand that male dolphins sometimes communicate by biting each other.'

He also added that "I usually live in groups, but from going around alone, I think I did that because I was lonely."
