In China, students who were sanctioned 300 times by physical education teachers suffered serious leg injuries, sparking controversy.

According to foreign media such as SinaCom and Xingtao Daily, an elementary school physical education teacher in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, conducted a jump rope test for fifth-grade students on the 24th of last month. The teacher instructed the squat to conduct leg strength training to 12 people who did not get satisfactory results from the jump rope.

The students did three sets, 100 times each, and stretched in the middle of each set.

However, two days later, three students began receiving treatment for severe leg pain.

Two of them were diagnosed with 'rhabdomyolysis'.

This is a serious disease that occurs when muscle components in cells are released into the blood as the muscles are necrotic.

15% to 50% of patients are at risk of developing life-threatening acute renal failure.

The school said the teacher allocated leg strength training to students with poor grades in the jump rope test.

He also explained that he gave students a break between training so that they could do stretching exercises, and that the teacher did not force squats on students who said they were having a hard time.

Education authorities said they are taking the matter seriously and have launched a comprehensive investigation.
