The story of almost losing one's life after wearing a tampon, a menstrual product for women, for eight hours has been reported.

Ashley Diskier, 43, of Texas, recently woke up at 3 a.m. one day in September with severe chills and nausea, according to People magazine and other foreign media.

After dropping her two sons off to school at 8 a.m., she vomited every 30 minutes and continued to feel pain until noon.

She ate food and took medicine at a friend's wedding two days ago, thinking she had gastroenteritis.

However, two days after the first symptoms appeared, my blood pressure dropped sharply and I developed shortness of breath, so I was examined at a general hospital.

As a result of the examination, he was diagnosed with 'toxic shock syndrome (TSS)'.

Doctor "Have you been using tampons for a long time?" questioned.

In fact, she has been using tampons during her period for more than 20 years. Even in the middle of the night, I woke up every four hours and replaced my tampon.

However, I wore a tampon for eight hours at my friend's wedding.

When I said this, the doctor said "You must have been infected with TSS using a tampon for eight hours in a row."

Ashley, who was discharged from the hospital after treatment, said, `I will never use a tampon again" declared.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends replacing tampons every four to eight hours to reduce the risk of TSS, and using tampons with less absorbency, which are only possible during menstruation.

On the other hand, Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare but caused disease caused by toxins in the body. It is known to be associated with long-term use of tampons during menstruation. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one out of every 100,000 people occurs, and some can cause multiple organ damage, shock and death.
