An airport in New Zealand has limited hugs to three minutes in the drop-off area, sparking controversy.

According to CNN and other foreign media, Dunedin Airport in New Zealand recently posted a sign saying 'Please use the parking lot for a more affectionate goodbye' along with guidance limiting hugs to three minutes in the drop-off area.

In this regard, online criticized it as too much to restrict farewells to loved ones.



Netizens can't put a time limit on hugging. It shows negative reactions such as 'inhumane'', 'the sad reality that we have to check the time while hugging' and"the policy that dries up emotions".

The airport explained that it was a measure to prevent congestion at the terminal and to ensure safety.



An airport official said "Many people are saying goodbye for too long in a disembarkation area where there is not much space. This makes it impossible for others to greet each other," he said, referring to a study that suggests that just 20 seconds of hugging is sufficient to obtain the oxytocin and serotonin secretion that people get from hugging.

He "I'm not telling people how long to hug. If you want to say hello for a long time, you can do it in the parking lot. be free to use for 15 minutes," he added.
