A female executive of Amazon, an American Internet platform, is in trouble over a necklace.

According to U.S. media such as the New York Post, Ruba Borno, 42, vice president of the Worldwide Channel & Alliance of Amazon Web Services, a cloud computing division, appeared in a video promoting the company's conference scheduled to be held in Las Vegas this fall.

The necklace pendant featured the Palestinian flag over the shape of an Israeli map. It is known primarily as a necklace worn by Palestinian supporters.

Some consumers are spreading the video online, saying they will cancel their Amazon subscription.

Israel's supporters are not "evil", "unacceptable" While lashing out, Palestinian supporters are responding with "comfort" and "thank you".

When the controversy arose, Amazon deleted the video.

An Amazon spokesperson told the media that the footage was not intended to make political statements, "but we have deleted the footage and will repost the new footage in the coming days."

Borno, meanwhile, was a Palestinian who lived in Kuwait until 1990, and later moved to the United States to earn a Ph.D. and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. Having worked at Boston Consulting Group and others, she joined AWS in November 2021.
