According to foreign media such as the New York Post and CNN, the two women aboard Spirit Airlines, a low-cost airline from Los Angeles to New Orleans, had to get off the plane just before departure on the 4th (local time).
It was because a male flight attendant pointed out the clothes of the women sitting in the seats.
At the time, women were wearing crop tops with shoulders and stomachs exposed.
The male flight attendant told the women "Wear something". When the women questioned the dress code policy, the flight attendant left.
Then another flight attendant approaches and "Get off the plane right away. If you don't, I'll call the police."
It was useless for other passengers to advocate for women. The women said they would wear sweaters again several times to avoid being kicked out, but the flight attendant said it was too late.
Eventually, the displaced female passenger vented "We were just wearing a crop top, we just saw a little boat" and "It was confusing, it felt discriminatory"
It was also hot because the cabin air conditioning system was not working properly at the time. So I took off the sweater I was wearing."
Forced to get off the plane, they asked for a refund but were rejected. I had to spend $1,000 (about 1.35 million won) each to get another flight.
They said legal action will be taken against this.
Spirit Airlines' transport policy states that the passenger may be forced off the aircraft if he/she is dressed inappropriately, obscenely, or dressed that may offend others.
Spirit Airlines officials are investigating the matter and are in touch with the passengers concerned" he said.
