A tomb built 2000 years ago was found at the site that appeared in the movie Indiana Jones.

According to The Sun and other foreign media, a 2000-year-old secret tomb has been revealed in the ancient Jordanian city of Petra.

Along with 12 bodies, pottery, bronze, iron and ceramic sculptures resembling the Holy Grail were also found in the tomb.

The archaeological excavation team discovered the tomb through sonar surveys.

The chief archaeologist, Dr. Pierce Paul Krisman, estimated that the tomb dates to the first century BC.

Hundreds more items will be found as excavations continue, he said, adding that many other graves have been found throughout Petra, but bodies are rare.

"It's a very rare discovery," said Josh Gates, host of the Discovery Channel's"Expedition Unknown" and "nothing like this has been discovered before in the two centuries that archaeologists have examined Petra.'

Dr. Kriezman "This finding could help unravel clues about ancient Arab societies", he explained.

Petra, located in Jordan, was built in the 1st century BC by the Nabatea, an ancient nomadic tribe, and is estimated to have been inhabited by about 20,000 people in its heyday.

Most researchers now believe it was built by King Arethas IV of Navatea, who ruled from around 9 BC to 40 AD.

Petra, meanwhile, rose to fame after appearing in Steven Spielberg's 1989 sequel, 'Indiana Jones: The Last Temple'.
